I didn’t know if I was going to get to this magic place in Mustang in Nepal before christmas 2015. But the weather cleared up and I was lucky to catch the flight after seven days of being cancelled. I then took a Jeep for one hour and after that it was walking by foot for five hours. The weather condition for the day was amazing. As opposed to the one day it took me to get there from Pokhara, it took me four days on my return when I walked for four days due to heavy snow fall, blocked roads, avalanches and more.

I am so glad that I took the painting material with me to my private Himalayan mountain retreat. I almost didn’t as I was going to walk for a few hours and needed to keep the weight down. Also, I didn’t think it would be possible to paint there due to the primitive living conditions. But it was perfect. Everything I needed was there. I spent eleven days painting this mandala, in the most peaceful place on this earth, surrounded by the mighty Himalayan kingdom, in solitude, spending time with the lama and drinking countless cups of chi tea and eating great food. I am so grateful for this special time.
