07 Jun Enjoy the benefits of nature …
Nature is my greatest source of inspiration. What about you?

Benefits of nature
Nature has a calming effect on the nervous system in a healing way. It is soothing and makes us more relaxed and at ease. We also know that it has positive effects on our mind and makes us more creative, focused and happy. Science has also proven physical health and psychological benefits like for example improved memory and compassion.
On one of my hikes to Ulriken (Bergen’s highest peak of 643 meters above sea level), I was reminded by one of the effects nature has on me. Inspiration. As I was walking, I suddenly became aware of my poetic voice. The same voice that danced on my lips on one of my pilgrimages in the Himalayas that led me to write Walking Into It. Literally singing in my mind with an intensity that is hard to describe. This time, it started in Norwegian and shortly I realised it had changed to English. I am truly fascinated by the mind and what it does.
So it comes:
Jeg siger oppover med tunge skritt
Ett pust i sivet
Breathing
I am slowly slowly making my way up
Breathing, walking one step at the time
Slow, heavy, I know it will become lighter
Stop, breathe
Natures wind on my face is light, and fresh
It carries me into the lightness of the mind
A terrain less steep
There is a tre, to hang on to
I feel the sensations of the bark
Instant calm
A certain coolness, safety and support
My attention is suddenly away from the heaviness
I am connected with the tre
Comforted by it’s warmth
Streaming through my being
I climb up and up and reach a rocky, flatter part of the hike –
Where I am warm lightness in the cool air.
What happens for you in nature?
Do you feel happier, calmer, more at peace and / or find solutions and ideas?
Are you allowing yourself time and space to breathe and connect with nature in every day life?
If nature is calling – ANSWER and you will be rewarded in so many different ways.
With joy xx
